How to choose an ASIC miner

A useful shortlist starts with power, heat and support. Use a site-first checklist before comparing prices.

01

Set the deployment boundary

Record your available supply, continuous power capacity, cooling infrastructure and operating environment. Check each exact model against its official manual. A machine designed for an industrial liquid-cooling system is not interchangeable with a home appliance. Have a qualified professional assess electrical capacity.

02

Compare like with like

Compare algorithm, hashrate, wall power and cooling type together. Record the operating mode and conditions behind a quoted specification. Then compare purchase price, delivery timing, accessories and warranty coverage. A lower equipment price alone does not establish a lower total deployment cost.

03

Define acceptance before payment

Ask for the exact model and configuration, a written condition description and clear delivery terms. For used hardware, agree on evidence of operation and a test process. Record who handles transport damage, failures and return shipping. Keep your procurement documents separate from estimated mining income.

04

Build a comparable shortlist

Keep one row per exact configuration and record where every specification came from. Separate a supplier quote from a manufacturer rating and from a used-unit test. If two offers omit different items, ask for the missing details before comparing totals. The following fields help expose differences that a model name alone hides.

05

Agree what a successful handover looks like

Define the documents and observations that will close the order: serial-number list, delivered accessories, operating mode and test result. For a batch, agree how many units are checked and how exceptions are handled. Preserve the original test logs and the agreed conditions so a later discussion is about the same evidence. Use the checklist below to track questions, not to substitute for written terms.

06

Turn a quote into a comparable worksheet

Put the hardware price, required accessories, shipping, installation, cooling equipment and initial spare parts in separate rows. Record the currency and validity date. Two quotes for the same named miner may cover different power supplies or delivery conditions. Compare the complete installed scope before calculating the operating cash flow; otherwise the cheaper offer may simply omit work.

07

Use a representative acceptance test

Define the mode, supply conditions, cooling conditions, observation period and measurements to be delivered. Require a device identity tied to the logs and accepted pool work. For a fleet, describe how different hardware revisions will be sampled. This is a procurement worksheet, not a universal factory test standard; confirm the actual tolerances with the supplier for the exact configuration.
