The Antminer Z15 and Z15 Pro mine the Equihash algorithm, but they belong to different hardware generations and infrastructure profiles. The original Z15 offers lower total power and a smaller chassis; the Z15 Pro roughly doubles the typical hashrate while improving energy efficiency, but it also requires more power, a larger deployment footprint and careful electrical planning.
For a 2026 purchase, the correct comparison is not “Which one earns more today?” It is “Which exact condition, hashrate, power and price fits my site after downside assumptions?” This guide replaces static profitability screenshots with manufacturer specifications and a decision framework.

The official Z15 specifications and official Z15 Pro specifications should remain the fact source. BITMAIN notes performance tolerances, and actual wall power changes with environment and operating conditions.
What the efficiency difference means
The Z15 Pro’s 3.31 J/KSol typical efficiency is about eight percent lower than the Z15’s 3.60 J/KSol, so it uses less energy per unit of hashrate on the stated specifications. At the same time, its total wall draw is approximately 1.84 times higher. The Pro can deliver twice the typical hashrate without doubling power, but a site still has to supply about 2.78 kW continuously per unit.
This distinction matters. Efficiency answers “How much energy supports each KSol?” Total power answers “Can my circuit, ventilation and facility support the machine?” A buyer should evaluate both.
Electricity cost example

- Z15: 1.51 × 24 × $0.08 = about $2.90 per day;
- Z15 Pro: 2.78 × 24 × $0.08 = about $5.34 per day.
At $0.12/kWh, those figures rise to about $4.35 and $8.01. These are electricity costs, not profit forecasts. Add ventilation, networking, conversion losses, pool fees, downtime, repairs and any hosting charge. Then use live revenue and difficulty data for the same date.

The product condition makes this more than a model comparison. A used Z15 may lower entry cost but adds history and repair risk. A new or verified Z15 Pro may carry a higher purchase price and infrastructure burden but gives more hashrate density.
Power and electrical planning
BITMAIN lists 12 V DC requirements for the original Z15 platform and a 200–240 V AC input range for the Z15 Pro’s power system. The Pro specification lists two AC inputs, with 10 A per wire in the manufacturer’s note. Do not improvise cabling or use a household power strip.
Have a qualified person confirm continuous-load capacity, receptacles, plugs, PDU, breaker, conductor size, grounding and local code. Record the exact power-supply model included with a used Z15. A miner listing without a compatible PSU changes both cost and installation scope.
Cooling, sound and placement
Both are air-cooled mining machines intended to move substantial air continuously. BITMAIN lists 75 dBA for the Z15 Pro under its stated maximum fan condition and 70 dBA for the Z15 documentation. Those levels are not living-room quiet. Actual sound varies by temperature, fan speed, airflow resistance and room acoustics.
Plan separated intake and exhaust, dust control, service clearance and a way to prevent hot-air recirculation. A small room can overheat even if the miner’s electrical circuit is adequate. Measure inlet temperature and sustained pool-side hashrate after installation.
Coin and pool compatibility
Equihash is a family of proof-of-work parameters, and not every coin described as “Equihash” is automatically compatible with the same ASIC. BITMAIN lists ZEC and ZEN for Z15 Pro. Confirm the exact coin, pool endpoint and algorithm parameters with the pool’s official documentation before purchase.
Coin availability, exchange support, pool fees and network difficulty change. A machine being technically compatible does not guarantee an attractive market or reliable payout route in the buyer’s jurisdiction.
Used Z15 inspection checklist
For a used Z15, request:
- full serial and exterior photographs;
- sustained hashrate and power test, not only boot status;
- hashboard detection and chip-count screenshots;
- temperature and fan-speed data under load;
- PSU model and cable inventory;
- repair, corrosion, dust and liquid-exposure history;
- pool-side accepted hashrate and rejected-share rate;
- warranty, return window and shipping protection.
A low price is not useful if one hashboard is intermittent or the PSU is missing. Budget spare fans, cleaning and possible repair downtime.
Who should choose the Z15?
The Z15 can suit a buyer who wants lower total power, already has compatible 12 V power infrastructure or can validate a used unit carefully. It may also fit a site where heat rejection or circuit capacity is the main constraint. Its older efficiency and used condition must be reflected in the price and stress case.
Who should choose the Z15 Pro?
The Z15 Pro fits operators who can supply 200–240 V power, manage higher heat and noise and value more hashrate per deployment position. Its better J/KSol can help where energy cost is important, but higher absolute consumption still requires infrastructure.

- Use official hashrate, power and tolerance values.
- Model miner power plus facility overhead at three electricity rates.
- Use current coin, difficulty and pool data; include downtime.
- Verify voltage, circuits, exhaust and noise limits.
- Add freight, tax, repair, spares and commissioning.
- Compare base and stress cases before ordering.
Neither model has a universally “safer” ROI. The Z15 favors lower total load and potentially lower entry cost; the Z15 Pro favors performance density and modestly better efficiency.
