Water-cooled Scrypt miners can deliver more hashrate per rack and move heat away from the machine with less fan noise, but they are not plug-and-play home appliances. A hydro miner is one component in a system that also needs the correct electrical service, coolant loop, heat rejection, monitoring and maintenance plan.

This 2026 update replaces stale profit snapshots with a buyer framework and limits the product cards to LeedMiner models that were published, visible, media-ready and in stock when checked.

Why hydro cooling changes the buying decision

Dogecoin's official mining guide explains that modern profitable DOGE mining generally uses Scrypt ASICs and that Dogecoin can be merged-mined with Litecoin and other compatible Scrypt chains. The same computing work may support multiple chains, but revenue still changes with network difficulty, pool rules, coin prices and uptime.

Hydro cooling does not change the algorithm. It changes how heat leaves the ASIC. Instead of relying on high-speed chassis fans and room airflow alone, a liquid loop transfers heat to a facility-side coolant distribution unit, dry cooler, cooling tower or other heat-rejection system. That can improve rack density and acoustic conditions, yet it adds pumps, plumbing, water quality, leak management and control dependencies.

Two in-stock options to shortlist

The first candidate is the Antminer L9 Hyd 2U (27 GH/s). LeedMiner lists 27 GH/s, 5,670 W and 210 J/GH. The 2U format is attractive for dense rack deployment, but 5.67 kW per machine creates substantial three-phase power and coolant demand at fleet scale.

The second candidate is the ElphaPex DG Hydro 1 (20 GH/s). LeedMiner lists 20 GH/s, 6,200 W and 310 J/GH. Its lower hashrate and higher watts per GH mean that electricity cost requires especially careful modeling, while its 380–480 V requirement makes it a facility product rather than a normal household purchase.

Both listings are snapshots, not promises of delivered performance. Confirm the exact submodel, firmware, tolerance, input voltage, connectors, coolant specification, warranty and shipping batch on a dated quotation.

Efficiency is the most useful first filter because electricity is continuous. At full nameplate power, one L9 Hyd 2U uses about 136.08 kWh per day; one DG Hydro 1 uses about 148.8 kWh. Multiply by the complete facility energy rate, then add pumps, heat rejection, transformers, networking and control systems. A miner with the lower purchase price can cost more over its service life if it consumes more power for each unit of hashrate.

Coolant-loop requirements come before the miner order

Do not order from a product table alone. Obtain the manufacturer manual for the exact submodel and lock the permitted coolant chemistry, inlet temperature, flow, pressure and water-quality range. The official ElphaPex service portal should be used to confirm warranty and repair procedures for ElphaPex hardware. For any Bitmain unit, verify the serial number and the exact documentation with Bitmain Support, because air-cooled and hydro products do not share the same installation requirements.

The engineering package should define:

  • supply and return headers, hose size and connection standard;
  • required flow at the expected pressure drop;
  • coolant material compatibility and filtration;
  • dew-point control to prevent condensation;
  • leak detection, isolation valves and drain strategy;
  • pump redundancy and response to loss of flow;
  • heat-exchanger capacity at design ambient temperature;
  • alarms, shutdown logic and maintenance access.

Condensation is a major boundary. Colder coolant is not automatically better. If a pipe, connector or cold plate falls below the room dew point, moisture may form on energized equipment. Design controls around measured humidity and temperature rather than an arbitrary low setpoint.

Electrical and rack planning

A 5.7–6.2 kW server requires industrial distribution. Confirm line voltage, phase configuration, continuous-current derating, breaker coordination, conductor size, PDU capacity, grounding and connector type with a qualified electrical engineer. Do not infer electrical compatibility from the physical 2U shape.

For a 20-machine row, nameplate compute load alone is roughly 113.4 kW for the L9 Hyd 2U or 124 kW for the DG Hydro 1, before pump and heat-rejection loads. Add design margin and model startup, maintenance and failure conditions. Verify whether the rack can carry the machine weight, hose forces and service clearance while keeping every connector accessible.

Model profitability without a fixed daily-profit claim

Start with live hashrate and power values in the LeedMiner profit calculator. Then build a facility model with pool fees, rejected shares, network downtime, auxiliary power, repair stock, labor, financing, freight, duties and taxes. Treat DOGE and LTC payout assumptions separately even when the pool performs merged mining.

Use at least three uptime cases. A hydro fleet may run quietly when healthy, but a pump, dry cooler or control failure can affect many miners at once. Model single-machine availability, loop availability and site-power availability independently. A quoted daily profit that excludes common-infrastructure downtime is not a fleet forecast.

Product cards

Product card — ElphaPex DG Hydro 1 (20 GH/s) Published, visible and in stock at LeedMiner when checked on August 13, 2026. Listed at $3,099.00. Confirm the active variant, 380–480 V service, loop parameters, batch and warranty. View the ElphaPex DG Hydro 1

If a price or commercial field is missing on a live listing, label it Inquiry and request a dated quotation. Never replace missing information with “Pending.”

Final recommendation

Choose the L9 Hyd 2U when efficiency and rack density justify the higher unit price and the facility is designed for its exact power and loop requirements. Consider the DG Hydro 1 when the lower acquisition price fits the project and the higher energy intensity still works at the contracted electricity rate.

The decisive document is not a profitability screenshot. It is a matched power, cooling and operating plan. Compare current Scrypt miners, use the ASIC comparison tool, and contact LeedMiner with quantity, country, voltage, electricity rate, coolant design, ambient conditions and required delivery date for a dated shortlist.
